Weekly Roundup 21/03/21

Dear all
Hope you are well and happily running, cycling (maybe swimming, for the brave amongst us).

AGM
At the AGM last week the Chair and Co-Chair remained vacant, Claire Ashton and Michelle Casperez have now stepped up and have been voted on to the committee. Many of you will know Claire and Michelle, Claire has been chair in the past and has lots of ideas to take our club forward.

It was agreed that the Charity would be voted on once we can get together and we have more realistic opportunities to fund raise.

We still have some vacancies to fill, which are listed here.

The committee is very grateful for the hard work put in by those standing down at this time, (David Thomas, Gilles Corby, Simon Lumley, Mel Gearing, Karen Charman, Paulus Maukonen); to those remaining, and we welcome the new members who have come forward: Claire Ashton, Michelle Casperez and Nicky Mahon

Restart of club activities
David Newton has written a Roadmap to getting back to club running, which you can find here.

Assuming Government guidelines do not change, we hope to be able to offer club runs from Monday 29th March, with junior and senior track from 31st March. Coached swimming will not return till mid May, but we hope lake swimming can return late April.

From 29th March, outside of ‘organised sporting activities’ the rule of 6, or two households applies. (I understand this to mean that if 2 households is greater than 6 that’s ok, but no more than 6 people if from more than 2 households). Please correct me if I have misinterpreted this.

Tier 60 Trial
The final Tier 60k trial finished last Saturday and the results are now here.

Frostbite Friendly League
Strong and chilly winds over race weekend but 633 runners still turned out to take part in the 5th virtual Frostbite. 97 juniors and 536 seniors out over the two days.

In the senior event Hunts AC took top spot with PANVAC in 2nd place with C&C in 3rd. For BRJ, David Hudson took 5th spot in a time of 26:09; Felicity Bailie was first women in 86th, 34:35. For the Juniors Hunts retained 1st place with C&C 2nd and Werrington in 3rd place. It would seem that no BRJ juniors took part.

The last virtual event takes place over the weekend of 10th and 11th April at a venue near you! We have the following message from the team at the league to pass on:
“Up to now we’ve been fairly lenient with the cut off time for submitting results but with the prospect of being able to stay away from home come the 12th April, we will close the results tab at 7pm on Sunday 11th in order to get the results sorted on Sunday evening. PLEASE ENSURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR TIME NO LATER THAN 7pm ON 11th APRIL
