Lake Swimming

April 30 @ 18:00 - 19:30

We are trying to get back to some form of normality by bringing the Friday night lake swim back into your lives. Weather depending, we are looking to start back this coming Friday 30th April 2021 from 6pm – 7.30pm. We will be back to our usual site by the canoe club compound and won’t need as many restrictions as last year. We do not need a booking system so we will be back to turn up and swim, although if we find we are inundated with members wanting to swim then we may have to start using a booking system. Please see this years Code of Conduct/Disclaimer Form, please sign it and email it back to me if possible before Thursday 29th April. If you need to print out a copy then that’s fine, just bring it along with you on Friday. You will NOT be able to swim unless we have a signed form, this includes any juniors wanting to swim. Please note at the bottom of the form is a question about epilepsy/fits, please make sure you delete which is appropriate.

This year, like last year, we won’t be taking your cards, you will just need to sign in with us when you enter the lake and sign out when you get out. We will need an emergency number for you and also your mobile number for Track and Trace. We will build up a register as we go along throughout the year so you won’t have to keep giving us your details. Each year I have to destroy all documents with member details on them due to GDPR so I can’t use anything from last year so we need to build it up again….apologies for this!

We are running on volunteer help so please please please put your name down to volunteer. We are lucky enough to have the lovely Kevin in his kayak again and Havana on her paddleboard (if she’s not working that evening) who is a qualified lifeguard and is doing her open water lifeguard qualification later this summer. Therefore we will only need one extra volunteer each week on top of myself or Karen Charman who is my right hand lady this year (thanks Karen!). If everyone volunteers just once we will be good to go each week. I will be very strict this year, if we don’t have a volunteer for the week then the session will be cancelled as I don’t want to spend my time chasing people to volunteer. I will have a sheet at the lake for people to put their names down when they know they can help. Volunteering is good fun and you can choose whether you want to sit and check people in or wear the binoculars and count the swimmers in the water….neither job is difficult! Many thanks.
