Frostbite Friendly League (Race 4)
Fenland Running Club hosted Race 4 of the 6 Race 2024 / 2025 series. Their chosen venue was new to the Frostbite League, namely Bawsey Country Park near Kings Lynn. The early morning started out slightly frosty but by race start time the running conditions were ideal. The course was described as “challenging” but despite the increased travelling distance to this venue the participants reflected positively on the very scenic course. With this feedback in mind, it is likely that Fenland might choose to host this race again the 2025 / 2026 season ……& there’s a cafe!

Junior – The 77 finishers included 2 BRJ’ers namely Isaac Friswell in 47th & Alex Eason in 70th. Sadly BRJ, along with several other clubs, could not field the 5 finishers required to post a team score. Based on the competition rules that cover such instances, BRJ secured 12th position from the 14 teams. Our Juniors remain in 12th place overall going into to Race 5 at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on the 9 February (see below).

Senior – Our Senior squad comprised 16 members from the 328 finishers, with a mix that meant BRJ did secure a team finish. Seb Burley (38th), who won the Club London Marathon Ballot, was using this Frostbite as part of his build-up. Our next man home (72nd) was the in-form Cameron Taylor-Hall. Our lead lady (122nd) was Christine Howard followed by Alison Orrell (213th). It was noteworthy that Claire Ashton completed her first Frostbite for a number of seasons.

Our 10 Senior scorers, in order, were Seb Burley, Cameron Taylor-Hall, Frank Holmes, Mark Sheldon, Paul Mitton, Bryn Jones, Christine Howard, Anthony Charters, Alison Orrell & Claire Ashton.

The Senior team finished in 9th position from the 16 teams & remain in 9th place overall going into Race 5.

A reminder that the Hunts AC hosted Frostbite, that had been scheduled for last December, has been moved to Sunday 9th February at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.
