HEREWARD RELAY – RE-SCHEDULED DATE ANNOUNCED
BRJ had entered 3 teams in this 4 stage relay that was scheduled for 24th November. Sadly, this was cancelled because of safety concerns related to Storm Bert. Race hosts, March AC, have announced that the relay has been re-scheduled for Sunday 26th January 2025.
BRJ’s co-ordinator for this event, Paul Mitton, is aware that a number of members of the original 4 person teams cannot attend on the new date, thus is trawling for replacements.
If any member would like to participate in 1 of the teams would you contact Paul ASAP using his BRJ e-mail address which is: email hidden; JavaScript is required
Parkrun 2K
Amelie Alexander-Cahill was the sole BRJ Junior participating at Junior Parkrun, this was at Jubilee Park & finishing just outside her existing Club 2K PB.
Parkrun 5K
A total of 81 BRJ’ers participated in a 5K Parkrun at the weekend compared to just 22 the previous week that was affected by Storm Darragh.
BRJ’ers returned to Aldenham, Amager Standpark (Copenhagen, Denmark), Bug Hunter Waters, Coldhams Common, Dereham, Haverhill, Humber Bridge, Luton Wardown, Pocket, Poolsbrook, Storeys Field, Thornham Walks, Tralee (Ireland), Whiteley & Wisbech.
At Soham Village College, Colin Reeve secured a new Club PB (#4 of 2024) by a 1 Min 30 Sec margin compared to the previous week at Thetford #557.
At Huntingdon, Neil Whitaker & Mica Covell finished in 5th & 7th positions respectively. There were also Parkrun Milestones for Gerry Pye (#175), Ian Wilson (#325) & Peter Jackson ( #500).
Frostbite Friendly League Race 3
Race 3 (of 6), hosted by March AC, was originally scheduled for 8th December, but was cancelled, this time by Storm Darragh & took place 1 week later. For all clubs, the change of date resulted in a significantly reduced attendance in both races.
The full set of results can be found on the Frostbite Friendly League website. Provided there are no further extreme weather conditions the next race, hosted by Hunts AC, takes place on the 12th January at Hinchingbrooke Country Park. As this is effectively a “Home Fixture” for the BRJ it is hoped for a large turnout from both the Junior & Seniors.
Junior
From the 101 finishers, BRJ had 3 starters in the race but sadly there were only 2 finishers as Jack Reeve was forced to retire. Thankfully nothing serious.
Isaac Friswell (41st) secured a Venue PB by a margin of 12 Secs compared to 2023 & Alexander Eason (98th) made a Venue Debut.
BRJ fielded insufficient finishers to constitute a “team” with the Juniors finishing in 14th position earning 1 Race Point & when added to the 14 Points achieved after Race 2 they now sit in 12th position overall going in to Race 4.
Senior
The BRJ Senior squad consisted of 15 members finishing in 11th position from the 16 teams & earning 6 Race Points. When added to the 20 Points achieved after Race 2 the Seniors now sit in 9th position overall, just 2 race points shy of Eye in 8th. The Senior stats for Race 3 were:
