Parkrun Junior 2K
Our Juniors were in action at Jubilee Park & Cambridge:
Jubilee Park – At a Halloween themed event, Maxwell Evans made his Club 2K Debut in a time of 00:10:47.
Cambridge – Jack Scott again secured 1st position overall. Stanley Coe set a new Club 2K PB (00:09:24) by a 5 Sec margin compared to his previous best set at event #411 of 11th August. This was Stanley’s 7th PB of 2024 making him the current leaders in the BRJ Boy’s “Most Running PB’s”  Competition, just 1 PB ahead of Isaac Friswell & Finley Harrison.
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Belvoir Castle, Bug Hunter Waters (5th position & Course Best for Simon Mayes), Bury St Edmunds, Ford (Course Best for Felicity Baillie), Great Denham, Jersey Farm, Harrow, Holyrood (Scotland), Pocket, Rendlesham Forest, Tooting Common, Toyen (Oslo, Norway), Westmill & Wisbech.

At Huntingdon, Neil Whitaker was the top placed BRJ’er in 6th position.
Lancing 10K
Following his excellent runners-up finish last weekend in the Storm Ashley affected Worthing 10K, Alex Mitton was among the 270 finishers in this Seafront based event. Alex finished in 10th position in a time of 00:36:39 representing a new Club 10K PB (#7 of 2024) by 1 Min 3 Secs compared to his previous best at Newhaven in January 2023.
Fenland 10M
For 2024, the Fenland 10M was the “Nominated” event for October in the BRJ Senior Running Championships, the final race in the Cambs AA Road Race League Competition & the Cambs AA 10 Mile Championships.
For the first time in many years, the notorious Fenland winds were non-existent thus providing near perfect running conditions. 6 BRJ’ers were among the 259 finishers producing 2 new Club 10M PB’s & a debut run over the distance.
The squad were led home by Men’s Captain & Coach, Paul Mitton, in new Club PB. Adam D’Souza also secured a new PB with Simon Pascoe making a Debut over the distance. The details for the 2 PB’ers are:-
i).   Paul Mitton by 1 Min 28 Secs compared to September 2024’s Sawtry 10M (PB #5 of 2024).
ii).   Adam D’Souza by a 3 Min 50 Secs margin compared to January 2024’s Bedford 10M. This was Adam’s 21st PB of 2024 placing him as the current leader in the 2024 Men’s “Most PB’s” competition & now 2 ahead of Robin Cooper.

Chablis Marathon
Our sole overseas based member, John Abbey, successfully completed his local Marathon, albeit in dry but windy conditions. As part of his Marathon preparations, John had intended to participate in mid-October’s Great Eastern Run (GER) 1/2 Marathon as a means means of acquiring a qualifying time in order to represent England in the 2025 Masters Championships. Sadly after some excellent performances in his year long training campaign, John succumbed to a lurgy forcing withdrawal from the GER & which also made his participation in this Marathon doubtful & even then unlikely to achieve the finish time he was after in the Marathon.
In what was his Debut Club Marathon & feeling the effects of his enforced inactivity at the latter stages of the race, John completed the distance in an excellent time of 3:36:32 in 52nd position from the 543 finishers securing the Gold Medal in the MV60-69 Category & beating the Silver medalist by over 8 minutes.
An Age / Gender Graded score of 72.85% counts towards the 2024 Senior Running Championships. Apparently John vowed not to enter another Marathon, BUT a short time he later indicated he would re-enter this local event in 2025. Perhaps, unsurprisingly, John’s post race celebrations consisted of a well deserved glass, or 2, of Chablis!

World Triathlon Age Group Championships *Results Update*
A report has been received from Constance Gilbert who, along with Gilles Corby, recently participated in the World Tri Champs held in Torromolinos, Spain.
QUOTE” I was competing for GBR in the Standard Distance Aquabike event. I was very happy with my 12th place / 30 in the 60-64 age group & was the 6th British finisher of 13. The sea swim was over a distance of 1500m although I actually swam around 1750m due to the strong currents! It was quite challenging. The 25 mile bike included some long hills. My race individual stats were:-
Swim       -00:29:47
T1            -00:05:21
Bike          – 1:21:46
Overall Finish Time – 1:56:53
All in all, it was a fun weekend and great atmosphere. I enjoyed watching the Elite Women and Men, particularly seeing Alex Yee win the Men’s World Championship race. “UNQUOTE”
