Chicago Marathon
BRJ’ers were in action at the Chicago Marathon. Over the years the course has proven to generate a number of fast Marathons. In 2024 a new Women’s Marathon World record was set (2:09:56) bettering the previous time by 1 Min 57 Secs.
Among the 52,017 finishers were Annette Newton & Amanda Roland -Convey. David Newton had met the Chicago qualification standard but sadly was forced to withdraw prior to race start due to injury. David’s participation in November’s New York Marathon currently also looks doubt. We wish him well in his recovery.
Amanda finished in position 19,479 in a time of 3:52:19 & Annette in position 24,602 in 4:05:48. Annette again secured an Age Category podium position in an international Marathon, securing 3rd place in the FV70-74 category. Age / Gender Graded scores of 67.11% (Amanda) & 86.40% (Annette) count towards the Senior Running Champs. Annette’s score is her highest achieved in 2024.
