Parkrun Junior 2K
3 BRJ’ers were in action at Jubilee Park alongside 66 other participants. George Jenner led home the squad in 4th position, Stanley Coe, in 7th, secured a Course Best time (00:09:40) & Sophie Coe was 26th.
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Bedford, Hellibrunn (Salzburg, Austria), Pocket, Sandringham, The Plens, Weymouth & Woodhouse Moor. 2 BRJ’ers secured new Club 5K PB’s. These were:-
i). Catton #503 – Emma Rigby by 4 Min 17 Secs compared to Black Park Parkrun #728 of 31 August (PB #2 of 2024).
ii). Storeys Field #158 – Kathy Unwin by a 30 Sec margin compared to Race 1 (Eye) of the 2024 Peterborough Grand Prix of 12 June (PB #5 of 2024).
There were 2 BRJ Parkrun Venue Debuts namely, 3rd place for Simon Moore at the Howard Temin Lakeshore Perth Parkrun (Madison, USA) & by Kerry Surkitt at Pendle which was her 100th different Parkrun Venue.
Huntingdon Parkrun #512 was the “Nominated” event for September in the Senior Running Championships, which saw a significant attendance by 40+ Seniors members. The event saw new Club 5K PB’s achieved by:-
i). Emily Miller by 18 Secs compared to Bideford Parkrun #2 of 2 April. This was PB #10 of 2024 which makes Emily the current leader in the Senior Women’s “Most PB’s” competition.
ii). Neil Parker by 1 Min 7 Secs compared to Irchester Country Parkrun #167 of 25 May (PB #2).
Robin Cooper, Adam D’Souza, Simon Mayes (7th place) & Alex Mitton (4th) all achieved Course Best times. Finally, there were Parkrun Milestones for Richard Stevens (#175), Anna Best (#225) & Annette Newton (#300).

Bourn to Run 10K
The 17th edition of this local run introduced a new route for 2024 which was a reverse of previous years. Of the 128 finishers, Tom Brand completed the course in position 64 in a time of 00:57:38.
Zig Zag 1/2 Marathon (Huntingdon)
Darren Butler, in his Debut Club 1/2 Marathon, finished the laps of Hinchingbrooke Country Park in 17th position in 2:31:15.
Thames Tow Path Challenge
With the aim of raising funds to build a new hut for the 1st Somersham Scouts, our Welfare Officer, Emma Stevens, & former club member Georgina Godby took on the Thames Towpath Challenge opting for the 100K (62 miles) in 1 day option.
Their challenge started at London’s Putney Bridge & headed westwards through Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, Windsor, Marlow & ending in Henley-on -Thames. Of the 733 successful participants, Emma finished in position 700 in a time of 29:33:52. Emma has a Justgiving page if you wish to make donation to this worthy cause.

Swim Serpentine London
2 BRJ’ers were among the 3,441 swimmers that completed the 2 mile event. As a result of this successful performance they both qualified for the prestigious London Classics Medal. Their results were:-
