Parkrun Junior 2K
BRJ Juniors were in action at 4 Parkrun events returning to Cambourne & St Neots Riverside (Alexander Eason). At Cambourne #142, Finley Harrison secured a new Club PB by a 6 Sec margin compared to Cambourne #134 (PB #5 of 2024).
BRJ’ers made Club Venue Debuts at Eyemouth Primary Playing Fields (1st place for George Jenner) & Eastbourne (Keira & Rhys Coverdale).
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Arrow Valley, Big Hunter Waters (Course Bests for Mark Jackman, Alex Mitton & Paul Mitton), Cheltenham, Delftse Hout (Delft, The Netherlands), Eden Project, Holkham, Karependonske (Eindhovem The Netherlands), Pocket & Woodhouse Moor. 2 New Club 5K PBs were achieved at:-
Bideford – Emily Miller secured a 2 Sec PB compared to her run at Huntingdon #500 (PB #8 of 2024).
Rutland Water – Eszter Gulacsy secured a 22 Sec improvement compared to Huntingdon Parkrun #499 (PB #9 of 2024 & now current leader in the 2024 Women’s “Most Running PB’s” competition).
At a wet & cool Huntingdon #509, Anthony Charters secured Club PB #3 of 2024 by a 19 Sec margin compared to event #508. Darren Butler completed Parkrun #50.
St Albans Sixer
4 Members, Claire Few, Kate Ruddock, David Thomas & Sue Yendley successfully completed this challenging 6 mile event ….. with a difference!
The purpose of the event is to run (or walk) a 6 mile course but requiring a visit to 6 “nominated” pubs within the town & consume a drink a beer at each pub. Thankfully, the BRJ team were well up for the challenge & although no finish times were recorded each member secured a PB, in this instance this was a Pint of Beer!.
After completion of the 6 mile course, the team even had capacity for a celebratory post race Prosseco
I Run My Age (IRAM) Challenge
Junior Jack Scott successfully completed the 2024 IRAM Challenge. As a 9 year old, Jack had to complete 5 events to an overall distance of 14.5KM (9 miles in “old” money). Jack exceeded the requirement by completing 15.2KM (9.44 miles). His 5 qualifying events, completed between 29th July – 20th August were:-
1. Dry Drayton – 4.1KM
2. Spain – 2KM
3. Barton – 3.6KM
4. Jubilee Parkrun – 2KM
5. Barton – 3.5KM
2024 Senior Running Champs – UPDATE
A reminder that the next “Nominated” event in the Senior Running Champs is Huntington 5K Parkrun (#412) taking place on Saturday 14th September.
Cambs AA County 5K Champions
Race 5 of the Peterborough Grand Prix Series held at Ferry Meadows on the7th August was the “Nominated” event in the Cambs AA 5K County Champs.
2 BRJ’ers secured bronze medals in their respective Age Categories, namely Felicity Baillie (FV35) & Alison Orrell (FV55+). Well done to you both!
Medals can be collected from Ty Farrer of Hunts AC at any of the 2 remaining Cambs AA Road Race League events which are:-
8 September – Sawtry 10M
27 October – Fenland 10M (Cambs County 10M Championship Event)
