Parkrun Junior 2K
A total of 6 Juniors were in action at Cambridge & Jubilee Park.
Cambridge #406 – Jack Scott took the runners-up position in a new Club PB time of 00:07:47 (PB #3 of 2024), an improvement by 10 Secs compared to April 2024’s Cambridge #396.
Jubilee Park #287 – 5 members were in attendance, led home by George Jenner in 3rd position. Rhys Coverdale secured Club PB #3 of 2024 by a 4 Sec margin compared to Jubilee Park event #281 with a time of 00:11:02. Amelie Alexander-Cahill completed Parkrun #50.
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Bug Hunter Waters (Richard Orrell completed Parkrun #300), Lingwood, Milton Country (Course Best for Simon Mayes), Pocket, University of Stirling, Whittlesey & Y Promenad.
BRJ’ers made Venue Debuts at Germany’s Speyer Leinpfad (Anna & Clive Best) & by Michael Shaw at Talkin Tarn Country Park.
At Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy & Will Dales took 1st & 2nd places respectively & 2 members achieved new Club 5K PB’s. In his first sub-20 Minute performance, Jim Greenley improved by a 25 Secs margin (PB #3 of 2024) over the time he set at Storeys Field back in February. Slawomir Dziarmaga bettered the time set at Huntingdon in February 1 Sec, his 2nd PB of the year. Helen Richardson completed Parkrun #225.
Peterborough Grand Prix 3K & 5K Series – Race 2
Race 2 of the 5 race 2024 Grand Prix (GP) series was hosted by Bushfield Joggers from the Ferry Meadows Visitors Centre. Race day fell on the hottest day of the year but sadly as in all previous years the cafe was not open to serve much needed cold drinks or ice creams to the runners or supporters. .
Given the challenging conditions on the night, PB’s were in short supply & those Club PB’s that were were achieved came from 3 junior members.
The next race in the 2024 Grand Prix takes place on Wednesday 10th July 2024 at the Werrington Sports Centre, Stanilard Way, Peterborough, PE4 6NA.
3K – There were 58 junior finishers which included 3 BRJ’ers. Our team was led home by the in-form Isaac Friswell who secured a new Club 3K PB by a 35 Sec margin (#5 of 2024) compared to his previous best set at Eye in Mid-May. Dixie Swales, finishing 1 place ahead of Jack Reeve, earned a 46 Sec Club PB when compared to her result in Race # 1 of the 2024 GP series. The full set of 3K results are;

5K – 28 BRJ’ers, an increase of than at Race 1, were among the 430 finishers. As in Race 1 @ Eye, Keelan Duffy led home the BRJ squad, with Felicity Bailie spearheading our Women.
The only Club 5K PB belonged to Junior Henry Reeve, by a 2 Min 36 Sec margin (#2 of 2024). Mike Gullis & Alex Mitton both secured bronze medals in their respective Age Categories. The 5K results are;

Colworth Marathon Challenge 5M
The long standing Colworth Marathon Challenge consists of 3 races staged over 3 consecutive days with the total distances of 5M, 8.1M & 13.1M constituting the full marathon distance. Karen Childerley, in her Debut Club 5M, was among the 224 finishers in position 158 in 00:49:15.
Cambridge 10K
Kerry Surkitt & Kathy Unwin completed in this charity fundraising event. Kerry finished in 116th position in a time of 00:50:09 & Kathy, in her Club Debut 10K, in 619th in 1:07:27.
Snowdon (Eryri) Skyrace
For his next Multi-Terrain endurance race, Slawomir Dziarmaga successfully completed this tough 38K (24 Mile) Wales based event.
The race started in Llyn Llydaw & followed a figure of 8 course via the Ogwen Valley, Pen-y-Gwryd & finishjng back at the start location. The course contained steep technical elements & Grade 1 Scrambles with an overall ascent of 3,455 Metres. Despite the very challenging terrain the 2024 winner completed the course in a time of 5:51:58. Slawomir, who had secured a Club 5K PB the previous day at Huntingdon Parkrun, finished well within the 12 hour limit in a time of 10:22:37 in position 100 /129.
