Parkrun Junior 2K
Junior BRJ’ers were in attendance at Cambourne & Jubilee Park.
Cambourne – Finley Harrison finished in a time of 00:09:21 representing a new Club 2K PB by 13 Secs compared to his previous best finish at the same venue on 19 May (PB #2 of 2024)
Jubilee Park – This event was themed as a celebration of the forthcoming Olympics. In gold medal position, George Jenner secured a Course PB along with Amelie Alexander-Cahill.
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Bug Hunters Waters (aka Northstowe), Littleport, Monsal Trail (Parkrun #150 for David Thomas), Pocket, Preston Park Brighton, Sheringham (Course PB for Claire Ashton), Thorp Perrow, Whittlesey (Course PB for Nick Harris) & Wyre Forest.
There were 4 BRJ Venue Debuts at Blackpool (by Juniors Sophie & Stanley Coe), South Shields (Claire Few, Kate Ruddock & Sue Yendley), Tetbury Goods Shed (Kathy Unwin) & Y Promenade (Wales) by Melanie Gearing.
Huntingdon celebrated reaching event #’500 & which saw 393 finish compared with 221 at event #1 on 13 April 2013. The first placed Male & Female in event #1 were Paul Martelletti in 00:16:44 & Katie Good in 00:18:37. The top BRJ finishers were Daniel Grant (00:22:39) & Claire Schmidt (00:23:09).
Event #1 saw a total of 58 BRJ’ers complete the course & from that number, there are 5 current club members, namely Tom Brand, Mike Gullis, Paul Mitton, Phil Pearsons & Maureen Wickson, that also participated in #500..
Event #500 did not disappoint as it delivered new Club 5K PB’s for:
i). Mica Covell by 40 Secs (PB #4 of 2024) & now 5th fastest BRJ Senior
Woman over the distance.
ii). Junior Ethan Ward by a massive 8 Mins 4 Secs (PB #4).
iii). Emily Miller by 30 Secs (PB #6).
iv). Junior Hannah Lasseter by 2 Mins 50 Secs (PB #2).
Course PB’s were achieved by Robin Cooper & Junior Jack Hutchinson & finally David Spurle completed Parkrun #200.
Our unluckiest member was Junior Katie Lasseter who missed out on a new Club PB by 2 just Secs.
Villa De Alorfa 5K (Spain)
Len Kirkby, participated in this village based night race. Of the 264 finishers, Len finished in position 258 in a time of 00:40.33.
Ferry Meadows 5M
Adam D’Souza finished in position 9 / 43 in a time of 00:41:40.
Bassingbourn Belle 10K
In hot conditions, 6 BRJ’ers were among the 252 finishers. The scenic course travelled through the South Cambridgeshire villages of Bassingbourn & Littlington. In 6th position, Simon Mayes again led home the BRJ squad & securing the Gold Medal in his Age Category. From this squad, 2 members secured new Club 10K PB’s, namely Robin Cooper by 44 Secs (PB #11 of 2024) & Alexandra Smart by 1 Min 30 Secs. Ian Percy made his Club 10K Debut.

Marham D-Day Commemorative 10K
2 BRJ’ers, Richard Braddick & Darren Frost, were among the 155 finishers in this event honouring the exploits of D-Day. Richard finished in a time of 00:51:04 in 44th position & Darren, in his Debut Club 10K, in 62nd in 00:54:23.
MULTI-SPORTS
Dambusters Triathlon (Rutland Water)
At a hot & sunny Rutland Water, 6 BRJ’ers competed in 2 of the distance options available:
Sprint – Andrew Place & Paul Treadwell were among the 180 finishers. Andrew finished in 66th position in a total time of 1:34:25 with Paul in 122nd in 1:46:27. Although Paul was disappointed with his Swim phase, his finish time represents a 6 Min 51 Secs PB compared to his Debut Sprint Tri at Blenheim Palace back in May.
Standard – The 513 finishers included 4 were BRJ Members. Their respective finish stars were:
