Parkrun Junior 2K
5 BRJ Juniors were in action at sunny Cambourne & Jubilee Park venues.

Cambourne – New member, Finley Harrison, made his Club 2K Debut

Jubilee – Of the 4 BRJ participants, 3 secured Club 5K PB’s. These were Keira Coverdale by 36 Secs, Rhys Coverdale by 43 Secs & Ethan Ward by 24 Secs.

Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Amager Faelled (Denmark), Blicking, Hove Promenade, Market Rasen Racecourse, Minnippi (Brisbane, Australia), Rushmere & Stevenage. At Pocket, Megan Wilson secured a Course PB & Marco Wassersleben completed Parkrun #450. Finally at Wimpole, Juniors Sophie & Stanley Coe both secured Course PB’s

Alice Edwards, Alice Noyes & Sue Ray made BRJ Debuts at both the Lovstien (Bergen, Norway) & Stavanger (Norway) Parkruns.

At Huntingdon, there were 2 PB’ers. Joe Jordan achieved a new Club 5K PB by a 58 Sec margin & Paul Beeson by 2 Mins 16 Secs. Jane Farrow completed Parkrun #125. Our unluckiest athletes were Debra & Neil Parker who both exactly matched their existing Club 5K PB’s they set back in April at the Margate Parkrun.

Eye 3K
7 Junior BRJ’ers were amongst the 95 finishers that braved the hot conditions. Jack Scott had a storming run to secure the runner-up position that represented a new Club 3K PB by a 1 Min 15 Sec margin. Our lead Girl & 1st overall was Iris Purser also in a new Club PB by 23 Secs. Isaac Friswell followed just 1 place behind with a 5 Sec Club PB. George Jenner, Joey White, & Harry White made their Club 3K Debuts.

Eye 10K
On the hottest day of 2024 so far, 18 BR’ers were among the 381 finishers in what was the “Nominated” event for May 2024 in the Senior Running Champs. The race resulted in 4 new Club 10K PBs & saw 3 members (Eszter Gulacsy, Annoushka Lingham & Henry Reeve) all make a Club Debut over the distance.
The squad was led home by new member Simon Mayes.with Mica Covell as our leading Woman. A particular shout-out must go to Junior Henry Reeve in 83rd / 00:47:03. Our PB’ers were:
Adam D’Souza by 43 Secs since April’s Cambourne 10K (PB #8 of 2024)
Mica Covell by 16 Secs since October 2023’s Duxford Dash (PB #2)
Rachel Dent by 6 secs since Debden in March 2024 (PB #3)

Duathlon (Standard Distance) – Stuart Hathaway secured 3rd place of the 35 finishers in a total time of 2:22:55, taking the Gold Medal in his Age Category. Stuart’s race stats were:

OPEN WATER SWIMMING

SWIM BURGHLEY 3K 
BRJ Swim Coach, Sophie Etheridge, used this new event as a part of her training campaign for a forthcoming long distance Swim challenge. Of the 110 finishers, Sophie completed the distance in position 40 in a time of 1:01:09.
