Parkrun Junior 2K
4 BRJ Juniors were in action at a warm & dry Jubilee Park. The conditions particularly suited 3 of our runners as they all secured new Club 2K PB’s. The 3 PB’ers were Stanley Coe by 1 Min 46 Secs, Sophie Coe by 1 Min 17 Secs & Ethan Ward by 5 Secs.

Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Aylesbury, Bedford, Coldham’s Common, Eden Project, Edgbaston Reservoir, Ferry Meadows, Hogsmoor Inclosure, Hove Promenade (a 6 Sec Club 5K PB for Alex Mitton), Milton Keynes, Northampton, Kettering, Pocket, Salcey Forest, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Wimpole (Course PB for Kerry Surkitt) & Woodhouse Moor.

In Brisbane, Australia, Anna & Clive Best made a BRJ debut at the St Lucia Parkrun.

At a Star Wars themed Huntingdon event, the force was with 2 BRJ’ers who secured new Club 5K PB’s & new member Paul Beeson made a Club 5K debut. Our PB’ers were Eszter Gulacsy & Junior Freya Hutchinson. 2 other BRJ’ers reached Parkrun Milestones, namely Phil Pearsons with 200 Huntingdon Parkruns & Club President, Alan Hannibal, with 275 Parkrun’s.

Fen Drayton 10K
8 BRJ’ers were among the 173 finishers. New member, Simon Mayes, achieved an excellent 9th place finish in what was his Club Debut 10K. Another new member, Carl Raven, also made his Club 10K debut. Harriet Dolby was the 3rd Female in a new Club PB (#2 of 2024) by a 1 Min 16 Sec margin compared to her run at Cambourne in April 2024. The full set of BRJ results were:

Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR) 10K
At Kings Lynn, Coach & Senior Club Men’s Captain Paul Mitton was the sole BRJ’er among the 2,179 finishers. Paul finished in 58th position in a time of 00:38:53 which represents a new Club 10K by 22 Secs compared to his previous best set at Northampton in May 2022. His new time (PB #3 of 2024) places him 1 position above his son Daniel in the Club Records.

Langtoft 10K
Phil Pearsons completed the race in position 258 / 282 in a time of 1:06:32.

QUT Classic 10K
The race was based at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane Australia with the course taking in local landmarks such as the QUT & Botanic Gardens, West End & the South Bank. Clive & Anna Best were among the 720 finishers. Anna was using the event as part of her personal challenge to complete 7 10K runs before reaching a Milestone birthday. This was #6. Clive finished in position 407 in 00:58:38 & Anna in position 562 in 1:07:14.

Milton Keynes 1/2 Marathon
7 BRJ’ers were amongst the 2,139 finishers. Amanda Roland-Convey lead home the BRJ squad that included 3 new members, Gillian Brown, Jesicca Shaw & Poppy Wells all making their Club Debut 1/2 Marathons. Annette Newton secured the gold medal in her Age Category.

Milton Keynes Marathon
David Newton, in training for November’s New York Marathon, was the lone BRJ participant amongst the 1,731 finishers. David finished in position 785 in 4:05:37 & earning the gold medal in his Age Category. David’s finish time represents an Age / Gender Graded score of 72.25% that counts towards the 2024 Senior Running Championships.

Pennine Barrier 50M Ultra
Tom Brand made his 50 Mile debut in this Yorkshire based off road endurance ultra event that include 2,593 metres of ascent. An early 6 AM start was over a course that started in Malham & included landmarks in the 3 Peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough. Of the 466 participants, Tom finished in position 339 in a time of 14:46:43 that was inside his aim of a sub-15 hour run.

Loch Ness Multi-Day Challenge Multi-Day 110K (68 Miles)
Club Women’s Captain, Felicity Baillie, headed to the Scottish Highlands for a tough endurance event over a distance of 110K spread over 2 days comprising 60K on day 1 & a further 50K on day 2. A 50K race over 1 day was also available.

The 2 day course circumnavigated Loch Ness via the Great Glen, South Loch Ness Trail, Inverness & finishing on Loch Ness Beach. Competitors overnighted in a designated camping area at Fort Augustus where food, water & a welcome massage were available. The route included checkpoints at 10K intervals & had an overall ascent of 3,513 Metres.

A maximum of 24 hours was allowed to complete the course, although Felicity finished well within this time limit in 54th position out of 101 in a time of 17:59:54. A huge achievement!

MULTI-SPORTS

Brooksbank Junior Tri
Jack Reeve ventured to Huddersfield to compete in another Tristar 2 event. Of the 19 finishers, Jack completed the course in position 17 in a time of 00:25:19.

Standard Distance Tri Relay
A BRJ team comprising Sophie Etheridge (Swimmer), Rachel Miller (Biker) & Heledd Marshall-Roberts (Runner) were amongst the 50 teams. Team BRJ completed the event in position 25 in a time of 3:11:33.
