Please help us
All of our sessions are carefully planned to make the most of our sixty minutes together. Please help us to make the most of that time by avoiding undue delays.
Please book your child onto the session using BRJ Clubpal:
https://brjrunandtri.clubpal.app
This allows those registering your child’s attendance without having to log out of registration and book your child in. This can cause delays and frustration for other children waiting.
Book early: This allows the coaches to see who is coming and plan accordingly.
Arrive in good time: please try to arrive 10 minutes before the start of the session. This helps the session to start on time.
If your child has been unwell or have picked up an injury please let us know.

Junior Running Championship
The Junior Running Championships was introduced in 2014.
The Championship aims to:
- Introduce younger runners to competitive running within a supportive and friendly sporting environment.
- Encourage junior members to participate in a varied mix of races over different distances and conditions.
- Experience participating as a club and a team
- Introduce junior members to friendly competition between members in spite differences of age and gender while increasing an individual’s motivation and performance.
- Enhance the visibility of the club at events and the potential to achieve individual and team awards.
Rules
The Championships are run over a 12 month period commencing on 1st January
The Championship is open to all first claim members.
Individuals must complete four events from the list of “nominated” events.
An individual’s final score is calculated using the total of their best three age and gender graded scores.
The race finish times are taken from the official published race results. Chip timing will be used, where available.
Only results that record the individual competing as a BRJ member will be scored.
Finish times will be converted into an age and gender percentage score using the Howard Grubb WMA (October 2016 edition).
Self-timed races will not be eligible.
The age category is determined by the member’s age on the 1st January. The Age Categories are Boy / Girl : U9/U11/U13/U15/U17
Clothing shall be worn that identifies you as a member of BRJ.
Junior Club Standards
In conjunction with the Junior Annual Running Championship there is a Performance Awards Scheme.
To award effort and to encourage further achievement the club has a series of awards for performance during a championship race.
Finish times will be converted into an age and gender percentage score using the Howard Grubb WMA. This compares a child’s performance against an international record of the performance of a child of the same gender and age running over the same distance. Only one badge of a specific grade and distance will be awarded for a performance of a similar grading. (e.g. Only one badge is earned for running the same time over 3K over different events)
There are three badges to be won over the following distances.
One Mile; 2 Kilometres, 3 Kilometres or 5 Kilometres
Bronze : Time is from 50%-59.99% WMA Grade
Silver: Time is from 60%-60.99% WMA Grade
Gold: Time is over 70% WMA Grade
These cloth badges can be worn on Club hoodies etc as a mark of achievement.
