Parkrun Junior 2K
At Jubilee Park, Alexander Eason secured 12th position just shy of his current Club PB.

Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Ashton Court, Bushy, Downham Market Academy, Jersey Farm, Malahide (Dublin, Ireland), Monsal Trail, Pocket, Sixfields Upton, Storey’s Field, Town Moor (Sue Ray completed Parkrun #150), Whittlesey & Wisbech.

BRJ’ers made Venue Debuts at Beacon Hill Country (by Kate Ruddock & Sue Yendley) & Treviso, Italy by Alice Edwards.

At a humid Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy secured 3rd position. Matthew Pendlebury achieved a new Club 5K PB by a 6 Sec margin (PB #3 of 2023) whilst his son, Bailey, made his Debut Club 5K. Jim Greenley, training for the Berlin Marathon, completed Parkrun #200.

Arkwrights 5K Series
Race 5 of the 2023 series took place at Ely. From the 312 finishers, Mark Sampson was placed in 6th position in a time of 00:17:01 (1st MV35).

Northstowe 10K
The 10K formed part of the Running Festival that also included a 5K & 1/2 Marathon. Tom Brand was the sole BRJ’er finishing the 10K in a time of 00:55:55 in position 60 / 158.

Sawtry 10M
The Sawtry 10 Miler was the “Nominated” event for September in the BRJ Senior Running Championships. 13 BRJ’ers were among the 254 athletes competing in hot conditions,, achieving 1 new Club 10M PB & 6 members making Club 10M debuts.

The in-form Mark Sampson finished strongly in 6th position in a sub-60 minute time that represented a 3 Min 38 Sec Club PB when compared to his time set at the 2023 Grim Reaper. Mark is now 4th fastest BRJ Man over the distance, some 11 Secs ahead of Club President, Alan Hannibal’s time that he set way back in 1991 at Nene Valley.. 4 BRJ’ers secured Age Category podium places.

The results below include the Age / Gender Graded scores that will count towards the Running Champs.

For your diaries, the next “Nominated” event in the Senior Club Champs is the Peterborough Great Eastern Run 1/2 Marathon taking place on the 15th October.

London Big 1/2 Marathon
Nearly 16,000 competitors ran around the capital in hot conditions. 3 BRJ’ers, with 2 making their Club 1/2 Marathon Debuts, successfully completed the race. The full suite of results are:-

Admiral McHilly 14M
Mark Sampson took part in this trail event based around the Chelmsford area. Runners have to self navigate using a route card provided on the morning of the race over a hilly course (700 feet of ascent across the course). A shorter (5.5M) & less hilly option is also available.

Of the 48 finishers, Mark took the Runners-Up position in a time of 1:56:07 just 1 min shy of the Winner. Mark secured the Gold Medal position in his Age Group.

Cambridgeshire AAA Road Race League 2023 – Latest Scores
The current positions in the 2023 Cambs AAA Road Race League competition have been released that take account of the results from Race 5 of the Peterborough GP 5K of 9th August. The best 4 scores from the “Nominated” League events determine the overall score. The remaining League Races are the Sawtry 10M, Cambourne 10K & the Fenland 10M.

Duck N’ Dash Aquathlon
The range of Junior events took place at Letchworth.

Tristar 2 – The event consisted of a 200M Swim & a 2K Run. Iris Purser completed the race in 29th position of the 45 finishers in a time of 00:16:43.

Youth – The race consisted of a 400M Swim & a 5K Run. Henry Reeve completed the race in 6th position of the 16 finishers in a time of 00:31:45.

Belvoir Sprint Distance Triathlon
Joe Jordan, a new member that is returning to Triathlons, was the sole BRJ participant in the Sprint event. Of the 129 finishers, Joe was placed 50th in a total time of 1:47:01 , well within his 2 hour target.. Joe’s individual splits were:-
