Club Running Championships Updates
The next “Nominated” events in the 2023 Running Championships are:-
Junior – Either the Huntingdon Parkrun 5K on 19th August OR the Jubilee Park Junior Parkrun 2K on the 20th August. Can you participate in both races? The answer is yes, BUT Competition Manager, Alison Orrell will only score the event with your highest Age Graded Score.
Senior – The next “Nominated’ event is the Sawtry 10 Miler on the 3rd September & for October the Peterborough Great Eastern Run 1/2 Marathon on the 15th October.
RESULTS
Junior Parkrun 2K
3 BRJ’ers were in action at Jubilee Park where Iris Purser took 1st place.
Parkrun 5K
There were BRJ returns to Bedford, Clumber Park, Ferry Meadows, Great Yarmouth North Beach, Hunstanton Promenade, Market Harborough, Milton Country, Pocket, Sizewell, Sloughbottom, Storey’s Field, Swaffham, Teignmouth Promenade & Victoria Dock. At South Manchester, Matthew Ainscow secured a Course PB & Dan Ainscow completed Parkrun #275.
At Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy & Will Dales secured 1st & 2nd places respectively, Following the achievement of a new Club 5K PB at the final race in the Peterborough Grand Prix, Rachael Dent secured a Course PB as a BRJ member.
Peterborough Grand Prix Series 3K & 5K
The concluding events of the 2023 Grand Prix Series, hosted by Bushfield Joggers, returned to a sunny Ferry Meadows.
Junior 3K – Just 4 BRJ Juniors of the 49 finishers attended this race with 3 securing new Club 3K PB’s. These were, Katie Lasseter by 25 Secs (PB #2 of 2023), Isaac Friswell by 25 Secs (PB #4 of 2023) & Iris Purser by 26 Secs (PB #9 of 2023). The full suite of results are:-

Senior 5K – 22 BRJ’ers were among the 338 finishers enjoying the conditions & the scenic course. Great performances by Mark Sampson & Keelan Duffy again saw them manage top 10 finishes. Our lead lady, Club Captain Felicity Baillie, was 7th Lady home. Despite the excellent running conditions, Rachael Dent was the sole BRJ’er securing a new Club 5K PB by a margin of 49 Secs. Rachael’s 9th PB of 2023 extends her lead in the 2023 Running PB’s competition, 2 ahead of Mica Covell. 5 of the squad secured Age Category podium places.
Our unluckiest athletes, just failing to secure new Club PB’s, were Mark Sampson by 2 Secs & both Keelan Duffy & Chloe Wilson by 6 Secs.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING
Full Thames Swim Marathon
Samantha Ahern successfully completed the 13K distance of the Full Thames Marathon. The race started at Henley & after 4 stages that included feeding stations, finished in Marlow. Sam finished in position 486 / 505 in a time of 5:44:55.
MULTI-SPORTS
St Neots Triathlon Race 3
BRJ’ers participated in the Super Sprint & Sprint distances.
Super Sprint – Willian Dales, in his Debut Triathlon, finished in 6th position of the 33 finishers in a time of 00:37:18 and was Runner-Up in his Age Category.
Sprint – Among the 86 finishers, 3 BRJ’ers successfully completed this event. Their results were:-
