Parkrun Junior 2K (5 March)
At Jubilee Park, Eliza Woodcock secured her 2nd Club 2K PB in as many weeks by a 4 Sec margin.
Parkrun 5K (4 March)
There were BRJ returns to Black Park, Bury St Edmunds, Ferry Meadows (Course PB for Kelsey Crickmore), Hunstanton Promenade, Pocket, Rothway Park, Rushmere, Valentines & Vogries (Scotland).
Michelle Caspersz made a Club Debut at Gunnersbury.
At Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy took 3rd place overall & there were Parkrun milestones for Jim Greenley (#175) & Richard Orrell (#250).
Brownlee Centre (Leeds) 5K
Keelan Duffy made his debut in the Leeds based Brownlee Centre 5K. The event had a small field of just 42 participants, but with a winners time of 00:14:49 & the 42nd placer just 00:25:04 it was of high quality. Keelan demonstrated his own quality by finishing in 18th position in a new Club PB time (by 7 Secs) of 00:16:04. This was his 4th PB of 2023 & comes just 2 days after his massive 1/2 Marathon PB at Cambridge.
Keelan is now the 3rd fastest BRJ Man over the 5K distance overtaking John Uff & Keelan now targets the 2nd place time of 00:15:24 currently held by former member Peter Galpin.
Cambridge 1/2 Marathon
20 BRJ’ers were amongst the 11,382 finishers. Keelan Duffy, in yet another Club PB run, led home our squad in a time of 1:14:27, an improvement of 1 Min 23 Sec PB when compared to the same race in 2022. Our leading lady, also in a PB time, was Felicity Baillie who made a 2 Min 45 Sec improvement compared to her run in 2021’s Cambridge 1/2.
Other PB’ers were Alice Synge (by 8 Secs) & Chloe Wilson (by 2 Mins 48 Secs). 3 BRJ’ers made Club Distance Debuts, namely Gail Alexander-Cahill, Jim Greenley & Helen Richardson. Our unluckiest athlete was Neil Whitaker who missed out on a new Club PB by just 10 Secs. The full suite of BRJ results are:

Lulworth Cove Trail 1/2 Marathon
Ian Lasseter successfully completed this looped Trail 1/2 Marathon of 14 miles length & 2,070 feet of ascent. Starting in Swanage, the route headed towards Weymouth following the upper coastal path & returning via the lower path & passing the picturesque Durdle Door. Of the 261 finishers, Ian completed the course in 53rd position in a time of 2:16:16.
Essex 20M
This 4 lap event, based at Carver Barracks (formerly RAF Debden), featured both the Essex & East Anglian Inter-Counties Championships. Paul Mitton & Jonathan Harding were the sole BRJ participants, both securing new Club 20M PB’s. of the 319 finishers, Paul, training for April’s Brighton Marathon finished in position 123 in a time of 2:21:42, a 4 Min 25 Sec PB (#4 of 2023) compared to the time he set in 2021’s Oundle 20M event. Jonathan finished in position 124 in 2:21:45 in a PB by 2 Mins 45 Secs (#2 of 2023) also better than his 2021 Oundle time.
Oundle 20M
The race was the “Nominated” event for March in the 2023 Senior Running Championships. Seb Burley, in his Club 20M debut & training for April’s Rotterdam Marathon, led home the BRJ squad in position 78 of the 392 finishers in a time of 2:34.03. Seb was joined by Amanda Roland-Convey & Annette Newton, both who had ran the Tarpley 20 Miler just 1 week before. Sue Ray completed the BRJ squad. Annette secured 1st position in her Age Category.
