RUNNING

Parkrun Junior 2K
At a sunny Jubilee Park, Ethan Ward finished in 3rd place overall & leading home the remaining 2 BRJ’ers, namely Alexander Eason & Amelie Ward.

Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers returned to Bury St Edmunds, Doddington Hall, Kettering, Pocket, Preston Park (Course PB for Alex Mitton), Snowden Field & York (Course PB for Heledd Marshall-Roberts). 3 BRJ’ers (Claire Few, Kate Ruddock & Sue Yendley) made a Parkrun debut at East Park (Wolverhampton).

At Huntingdon, William Dales finished in the runner-up position & Parkrun milestones were achieved by Adam Covell (#50), Samantha Healey (#150) & Clive Best (#200).

York 5K
Keelan Duffy finished in 5th place of the 73 finishers in a time of 00:16:41 representing a 4 Sec Club PB (#7 of 2022) compared to the time he set at January 2022’s Great Denham Parkrun.

Hampton Court Palace 10K
William Dales completed this picturesque course involving a 5K run alongside the River Thames & the remainder on a muddy route with some slippery sections. Will was 6th of the 1,578 finishers in a time of 00:35:42, representing a significant 1 Min 35 Sec Club PB (#3 of 2022) compared to the time he set way back at September 2017’s Great Cambridge 10K.

St Neots 1/2 Marathon
The wet weather in the days preceding the event moved away 2 hours before the start meaning that the race was held in near perfect long distance running conditions, aside for a slight headwind from Mile 10 to the finish & so slightly offsetting the time benefits of the overall downhill gradient of this final section. Historically, this event produces numerous PBs and 2022 was no exception with 6 new Club PB’s, 5 Distance debuts & an Age Category podium.

The in-form Jonathan Harding led home the BRJ squad in a Club PB time. This was his 14th PB of the year & maintaining his position as the current leader of the Senior Men’s Running PB competition, ahead of Paul Mitton. “Coach” Paul Mitton was the next home, again in a PB time, which importantly meant he has now PB’d during 2022 in distances at 5K, 10K, 1/2 Marathon, 30K, 20M & Full Marathon. For our Women, Marcela Gracova was our lead Woman home & closely followed again by Felicity Baillie.

The 6 Club PB’ers were David Barrett-Hague (by 1 Min 41 Secs / PB #2 of 2022), Anna Best (by 25 Secs / PB #2), Richard Braddick (by 7 Min 56 Secs / PB #8), Jonathon Harding (by 1 Min 50 Secs / PB #14), Paul Mitton (by 29 Secs / PB #10 of 2022) & Andrew Skea (by 3 Mins 30 Secs).

LDWA Sundown Saunter
Our long distance specialist, Kerry Surkitt, completed this advertised 27 mile event in a time of 6 Hours 41 Mins. Unfortunately, the self navigation feature of the event meant that Kerry actually did 28.33 Miles & to get back “on track” after a navigation oversight, had to scramble over a barbed wire fence & traverse through a forest of brambles.
