The weekend saw a BRJ’er take 1st place in a local Road Race & smash an existing Course record hold & BRJ’ers feature as winners in the 2022 Cambridgeshire Road Running League.
Parkrun Junior 2K
Alexander Eason was the only BRJ’er in action at a 2K Junior event, namely at Jubilee Park.
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers made returns to Braunstone, Chippenham, Fulbourn Hospital, Hove Promenade (Course PB for Alex Mitton), Pocket, Storeys Field & Woodhouse Moor. There were no Club PB’s at any of these venues. At Chelmsford Central, new member Mark Sampson, in his Debut Club 5K, was Runner-Up in a time of 00:17:18. Mark’s time places him as 11th fastest BRJ Man over 5K.
At Huntingdon, Junior Amy Lasseter earned a 3 Min 45 Sec Club PB, her 3rd of 2022 whilst Lisa Shacklock secured a 3 Min 9 Sec PB, her 2nd 5K PB in consecutive weeks & PB #5 of 2022 overall.
Alton Towers 10K
Richard Braddick was the sole BRJ’er tackling the undulating course around the outskirts of the Theme Park & Pleasure Gardens. The race had a great atmosphere & post race there was an opportunity to take in the Rides as part of the race entry fee. Richard finished in position 312 / 2,850 in a time of 00:48:54.
George Munday 10K
Marcela Gracova, the existing Course Record Holder from 2021, secured position 21 / 271 as 1st place Woman some 18 Secs ahead of the Runner-Up Woman. Marcela, who already was the fastest BRJ Woman over 10M, secured a new Club 10K PB by a margin of 37 Secs (PB #9 of 2022) to reduce the Course Record to 00:37:55.
Remembrance Run (Essex) 10K
Although entering the Duathlon, unforeseen Road Closures prompted Stuart Hathaway to switch to the 10K event. Of the 127 finishers, Stuart was 11th in a time of 00:40:20 securing the runner-up position in his Age Category.
Run Sandringham 10K
Kevin Ryan secured himself a 6 Sec Club 10K PB (#2 of 2022) when compared to his previous best set a 2021’s Peterborough Mid-Summer 10K. Kevin finished in position 297 / 965 in 00:54:14.
Rutland Water Night 10K
Tom Brand was amongst the 303 finishers completing the event in position 109 in a time of 00:56:08.
Brandon 1/2 Marathon
Sue Yendley & Fiona Greig were among the 33 finishers in positions / times of 17 / 2:33:50 & 19 / 2:34:14 respectively.
2022 Cambridgeshire AAA Running Championships – Final Results
Following the final event of the 2022 competition, the Fenland 10M, Cambs AAA recently released the Individual & Team competition results. BRJ’ers feature among the prize winners.
Team Competition (Men) – BRJ finished in 6th Position with 20 points (Hunts AC were in 1st place with 40 points)
Team Competition (Women) – BRJ finished in 2nd Position with 37 points (March AC were in 1st place with 42 points)
Individual Competition (Men 50-59) – Stuart Hathaway finished in 2nd Position with 15 points (1st place was 29 points)
Individual Competition (Men 60+) – David Newton finished in 2nd Position with 24 points (1st place was 29 points)
Individual Competition (Women 55+) – Ruth Foster finished in 2nd Position with 27 points (1st place was 30 points)
