RUNNING

PARKRUN JUNIOR 2K
Just 2 BRJ Juniors participated in a Parkrun, both at Jubilee Park. Katie Lasseter led home the competitors in a time of 00:08:22, this time representing a new Club PB by 11 Secs & PB #6 of 2022 thus making Katie the current leader in the Girl’’s Running PB competition.

PARKRUN 5K
There were BRJ returns to Cinder Track Whitby, Felixstowe, Harlow, Henlow Bridges Lakes, Letchworth, Storeys Field, Whittlesey & Woodhouse Moor.

BRJ’ers made Parkrun Debuts at Aviemore (Juliet Aungier) & Clover Point, Victoria, Canada (Anna & Clive Best).

At Huntingdon, there were Club 5K PB’s for Caroline Tiller (by 50 Secs / PB #6 of 2022), Angelo Dama (by 26 Secs / PB #3) & Richard Braddick (by 10 Secs / PB #6). New member Jason Cordes made his Club Debut Run & Tony & Ruth Foster both achieved Parkrun Milestones of #175 & 200 respectively.

MK Training Day Events
Late results from 11th September from a series of races held at Willen Lakes (Milton Keynes) that were suitably timed to prepare individuals ahead of Autumn Marathons. BRJ’ers participated in the 5M, 10M & 20M distances with great success.

5M – A stunning performance by Marcela Gracova by finishing as Runner-Up / 1st Woman of the 58 participants. Her time of 00:30:43 represents a 2 Min 3 Sec Club PB (#4 of 2022) when compared with the time set at Hatfield back in November 2019. This PB extends her dominance as BRJ ’s Women’s 5M Distance Champion by over 3 Mins ahead of the current Runner-Up, namely former member Shelley Duffy.

10M – Having seen Marcela’s performance, Rob Farrant also had an excellent run to secure the Runner-Up position of the 78 competitors. His time of 00:58:38 was a debut sub-1 hour 10 Miler & represented a significant 3 Min 50 Sec Club PB (PB #2 of 2022) when compared with the time he set back in October 2018 at Fenland. Rob is now the 5th fastest BRJ Man over 10 Miles, some 37 Secs behind 4th placed Alan Hannibal.

20M – Keelan Duffy finished in 16th place from a large field of 178 runners in a time of 2:21:30, albeit outside of his existing Club PB. Along with Marcela & Rob, Keelan also secured 1st place in his Age Category.

Northampton 1/2 Marathon
Felicity Baillie finished the event in position 54 of the 475 finishers in 1:33:54. Felicity was 1st in her Age Category.

Copenhagen 1/2 Marathon
Whilst on holiday, Ruth & Tony Foster participated in this popular event over a flat route alongside 21,560 other participants. Ruth finished in position 9,314 in a time of 1:51:32. Tony finished in position 12,748 in 1:58:32 & notably just 30 Secs short of his BRJ PB that he set way back in 2017’s Great Eastern Run.

Robin Hood 1/2 Marathon
2 BRJ’ers travelled to Nottingham to run the event alongside nearly 4,000 participants. Dan Ainscow finished in position 2,779 in a time of 2:18:29 & Jane Ainscow in position 3,482 in 2:47:02.

Berlin Marathon
6 BRJ’ers travelled to Berlin to tackle this notoriously flat & fast course, indeed the World Marathon record was broken during this particular race. The Women’s BRJ contingent was led home by Nicki McMahon, just 40 Secs shy of her existing Club PB, which was commendable given that a foot injury prevented her from undertaking “serious” training in the latter stages of her campaign. The evergreen David Newton pipped Amanda Roland-Convey & Marco Wasserleben.

Paul Treadwell earned himself a well deserved 7 Min 49 Sec Club PB when compared to his previous PB set at Brighton back in April 2022. Both of the “Newton’s” secured Age Category Positions, with Annette in 1st place, some 8 Mins ahead of the Runner-Up & David Newton finished 5th.

The results identify finish positions by gender & the scores that count towards the 2022 Senior Running Championships.
