PARKRUN 5K
The weekend saw BRJ returns to Fulbourn Hospital, Mildenhall Hub, Pocket, Rickmansworth (Parkrun #275 for Melanie Gearing), Rosliston, Sandringham & Wimpole.
After a journey utilising Buses, Cars, a minibus, planes & finally catching a ferry, Alice Edwards & Noyes made a BRJ debut at Bere Island (Ireland).
At Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy & Rob Farrant took 2nd & 3rd place respectively. New member, Angelo Dama secured Club 5k PB #2 of 2022 by a margin of 15 Secs.
Bedford Running Festival – BRJ’ers participated in the 5K, Twilight 10K & 20 Miles over the weekend’s Road Running Festival.
5K – Felicity Baillie had a great run finishing as 1st Lady & 5th overall of the 326 finishers in a time of 00:19:47.
Twilight 10K– Felicity Baillie appeared again, along with Ian Wiibberley. Of the 651 finishers, Felicity came 32nd overall in 00:41:56 (3rd in Age Category). Ian’s position was 222 in a time of 00:57:43.
20 Miles – 4 BRJ’ers, all training for October’s London Marathon, took part in the 20 Miler in very muggy conditions. Fiona Greig & Belinda Parker were made their Club 20 Mile debuts.

Northstowe Running Festival – Another local Running Festival saw BRJ’ers participating in the 10K & 1/2 Marathon races.
10K – 3 BRJ’ers (Sam Hathaway, Kevin Ryan & Richard Stevens) were among the 107 finishers. There results were:-

1/2 Marathon – Another 3 BRJ’ers took part in the 1/2 Marathon alongside 66 competitor & all finishing within the top 20. Paul Eddleston & Terry Hill made Club 1/2 Marathon debuts, with Heledd finishing as 2nd lady. Their results were:-

In 2022, the event featured as a qualifying race in the Cambs AAA Road Running League. The next Cambs AAA qualifying race is the Fenland 10M of 30 October.
London Big Half Marathon
In her 3rd competitive event of the weekend, but pacing family members rather than racing, Felicity Baillie was among the 12,394 competitors chasing Mo Farah & Elish McColgan to the finish line adjacent to the Cutty Sark at Greenwich. Felicity finished in position 4,738 in 1:53:33.
Oakley 20M
The conditions experienced by the 339 finishers for this undulating (i.e. very hilly) course were very dry & warm. All 5 BRJ’ers were using the event as warm ups for a forthcoming Marathon,namely Berlin for Paul & London for the remainder. Alice Synge, finishing just outside her Club 20M PB, was our star performer, with Ian Wilson our leading man. Juliet Aungier, had a strong run in her Club 20M debut.

For your diaries, the next BRJ Senior Running Champs “Nominated” event is the Fenland 10M being held on 30th October. The 2023 Oakley 20M takes place on 26 March 2023, just 1 month ahead of 2023’s London Marathon.

Outlaw Half Distance Triathlon (Bowood)
John Clark successfully completed what is widely recognised as the most challenging of the Outlaw Tri events. The venue was Bowood House in Wiltshire & the route was hilly on both the Bike & Run Phases. Of the 453 finishers, John finished in position 266 in a time of 6:11:48. His splits were:-
