Parkrun Junior 2K
Grateful to Mark Sheldon for reporting the late result from 14 August where Tom Sheldon secured Club PB #7 of 2022 by virtue of his 2 Min 17 Sec PB at the Central Park Junior Parkrun.
At Jubilee Park, Katie Lasseter took the 1st place just short of her existing Club PB. Ethan & Amelie Ward were also in attendance..
Parkrun 5K
BRJ’ers made returns to Belvoir Castle, Castle Park, Holkham, Irchester Country, Kettering, Lanhydrock, New Ross (Ireland), Severn Bridge, Storeys Field, Thetford & Whittlesey. At Market Rasen Racecourse, Claire Pearce completed Parkrun #125.
BRJ made debuts at Clonmel, Ireland (Kags Alexander-Cahill), Hazelwood (Michelle Caspersz), Northallerton (Henry Reeve) & Zuiderpark, Holland (Annette & David Newton).
At Huntingdon, Keelan Duffy (3rd place), William Dales & Rob Farrant all made Course PB’s, whilst Richard Braddick secured a new Club 5K PB by a margin of 1 Min 12 Secs (PB #4 of 2022). Angelo Dama made his Club 5K Debut.
Peterborough Grand Prix 3K & 5K Series (Race 5)
The final fixture in the 2022 Grand Prix Series was organised by Bushfield Joggers at Ferry Meadows. Thankfully, the weather conditions were significantly cooler & more conducive to Road Running than was the case for Races 3 & 4, although there was a strongish headwind around the lakes. The overall results for the Series are currently being calculated & checked & will be released shortly.
3K – Tom Sheldon was the sole BRJ’er among the 27 participants, finishing in position 17 in a time of 00:12:52, just shy of his current Club 3K PB he secured at Eye back in May.
5K – Of the 228 finishers, Keelan Duffy was again the lead BRJ’er home, but a sight calf injury picked up before the race meant that his finish position was slightly lower than in previous races. Alex Mitton, in serious training for his debut Marathon in October, ran a particularly good race with his first sub-18 Min run by virtue of a 38 Sec Club PB (#7 of 2022). As was the case with Race 4 at Werrington, dad Paul Mitton now competing in a new Age Category, also secured a PB in the same race as Alex, this time by a 6 Sec margin & his first sub-19 Min 5K run (PB #8 of 2022).
Tim Legge, Junior Harriet Dolby & Chloe Wilson also secured new Club PB’s by margins of 6 Secs, 1 Min 8 Secs & 3 Secs respectively. Claire Ashton, also made her debut in a new Age Category. The full set of BRJ results were:-

SENIOR RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS – “NOMINATED” EVENTS UPDATE
The “Nominated” event for December 2022 was scheduled to have been a choice between the Sublime Peterborough New Years Eve (NYE) 10K or the Ely NYE 10K. It has just been announced that the Peterborough NYE event has been cancelled for 2022. In addition, there has yet to be any official confirmation from Ely Runners that their event will be going ahead. I have sought information from Ely Runners but have yet to receive a response. To give you certainty about the running programme for December, I am announcing that December’s Senior “Nominated” Event will be “Any” 1 Parkrun 5K being held on Saturday 31st December 2022. The club website will be amended shortly to reflect this enforced change. The “Nominated” events for December in the Junior Running Champs are unaffected.
