The fourth and final race in the Lockdown( again) Relay is done in spite of the wind, rain and freezing temperatures. But the pace certainly was hot. A number of runners broke through those impenetrable barriers that form around one minute and the next, getting under 30 minutes or from 25 minutes to 24 or 23 minutes to 22. Across all groups there are some hard won personal bests as well as some great consistent running. But it is amazing what a challenge can do to performance. Have a look at “The Outsiders” this week. In their bid to snatch first place from The Twisted Blisters they really raised their game. Notably James Orrell flew round the 5K in 15 minutes 6 seconds, with an age grading of 88.35%. This is the fastest run of the whole relay. The Outsiders average time was 18 minutes16 seconds. But Twisted Blisters came in at 18 minutes 7 seconds so just hold on to top spot. Hemchester Harriers have been consistently pacing out those kilometres to hang on to third place.
