The committee met on Tuesday this week to consider how the new guidelines would affect our activities in December, (minutes attached).
We now know that Huntingdonshire has been placed in Tier 2. In terms of formal club activities the tiers do not affect this:
organised outdoor sport, and physical activity and exercise classes can continue
organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with). There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing
you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space – this is called the ‘rule of 6’
This means that club runs, track (senior and junior), hills can all proceed. However, we felt that to enable people to self isolate prior to the christmas break that track will go ahead on the 2nd and 9th December, and hills on the 3rd Dec. Similarly formal club runs will be offered up to 10th Dec. Clearly, informal runs with up to 6 people can take place.
For swimming, it would only be possible for one session to go ahead as the pool is closing from 14th December to allow for a new liner to be installed. So will resume in January 2021, we are just trying to establish when the pool will reopen.
In the light of our being placed in tier 2 and being mindful that Christmas is approaching the club will not organise a Santa Run, but would encourage members to run in festive regalia on the weekend of 19/20 December and post socially distanced pictures on the facebook page. Assuming we are not placed in Tier 3 by then, you will be able to run (socially distanced) in groups of 6.
Second Wave Race
The Second Second Wave race will take place in January, rules permitting.
The second Virtual Frostbite event will go ahead on December 13.
