Sadly, the second major storm in 2 weeks, Darragh, reaped havoc on a host of sporting events across the country including Parkrun & other events.<\/p>\n

Parkrun Junior 2K<\/strong>
\nNo results to report.<\/p>\n

Parkrun 5K<\/strong>
\nWith the numerous cancellations, including Huntingdon, there were a total of just 22 BRJ’ers in action at a Parkrun. There were returns to Abbey Park (Course Best for Jim Greenley), Coventry, Downham Market Academy, East Coast (Singapore), Ferry Meadows (Course Best for Kate Ruddock), Northala Fields & Preston Park (Brighton). At Thetford, Colin Reeve achieved a 2 Min 22 Sec Club PB (#3 of 2024) compared to Huntingdon #523 of 30 November.<\/p>\n

Alice Edwards & Noyes made a Club Venue Debut at East Grinstead.<\/p>\n

MK Winter 1\/2 Marathon<\/strong>
\n3 BRJ’ers were among the 2,138 finishers who braved the heavy rain & strong gusty winds to complete this local 1\/2 Marathon. Simon Pascoe led home our squad followed by Fiona Green who was making her Club 1\/2 Marathon Debut. The squad was completed by Yvonne Homewood who has returned to Running with the BRJ after a short(ish) break. Their full set of results are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Hurtwood Ultra Trail 50K<\/strong>
\nThe race started at Surrey’s Dorking Sports Centre & followed the Surrey Hills Greensand Way. The course route is “lollipop” shaped & essentially “Out & Back” with a 5 mile loop that re-joins the Greensand Way. The 31 mile course included 4,192 feet of ascent & had a 10 hour time limit. Participants are required to self navigate the course via a number of checkpoints located at local landmarks such as Leith, Holmbury & Pitch Hills.<\/p>\n

Despite the very challenging weather conditions, the hilly course & a couple of navigation errors, Slawomir Dziarmaga completed the race in position 193 from the 408 finishers in a time of 6:32:09 & well outside of his current 50K PB.<\/p>\n

Frostbite Friendly League Race 3 (Hosted by March AC)<\/strong>
\nRace 3 of 6, scheduled for 8th December at March, was another casualty of the storm. The very good news is that March AC have re-scheduled the League fixture for 1 week later i.e. on Sunday 15th December.<\/p>\n

St Neots Junior 3K *RESULTS UPDATE*<\/strong>
\n4 BRJ Juniors participated in the St Neots Junior race that took place on 17th November. This event was advertised on the website as being over a distance of 3K. Given that the winning Junior completed the course in a finish time that represented a speed of 12.6 MPH & a equivalent Full Marathon time of 2:04:51, the race distance was unlikely to have been 3K. Having queried this with the race organisers it was recently confirmed that the distance was NOT as advertised, but only 2.4K.<\/p>\n
