RUNNING<\/h3>\n

Parkrun Junior 2K<\/strong>
\n27 Juniors braved the wet & windy conditions at Jubilee Park #306, including 2 BRJ’ers namely Maxwell Evans (position 7 in 00:10:55) & Amelie Alexander-Cahill (11th position in 00:12:49).<\/p>\n

Parkrun 5K<\/strong>
\nBRJ’ers returned to Bug Hunter Waters, Colney Lane, Mile End, Old Deer Park, Pocket, Sloughbottom, South Bank (Brisbane, Australia), Storeys Field (Course Best for Mark Jackman) & Whiteley. At the Zielony (Green) Jar Parkrun in Krakow, Poland 9 BRJ Parkrun tourists participated & which saw Andrew Stevenson take 3rd position in his 50th Parkrun.<\/p>\n

Joanna Watts made a Club Debut at the Mount Pleasant venue in the Falkland Islands amongst 38 other participants,. This Parkrun is “Closed Facility” that is not open to members of the general public<\/p>\n

At Huntingdon, the heavy rain forecasted from Storm Bert held off for the duration of the Parkrun itself but decided to wait until your Results Officer had completed his volunteering duty to walk his dog. Mica Covell in 9th position was the leading lady.<\/p>\n

Junior Sophie Coe achieved a new Club 5K PB (#4 of 2024) by a 37 Sec margin based on her run of 00:30:29 at Bug Hunter Waters #20 of 2 November. With this new PB, Sophie is now in joint 2nd place in the “Most Road Run PB’s” competition of 2024. Fellow Junior, Poppy Leigh-Brown made her Club 5K Debut. 2 Senior members reached Parkrun Milestones, namely Donna Whitaker (#75) & Kerry Surkitt (#250).<\/p>\n

Bassingbourn Belle 10M<\/strong>
\nNeil Whitaker was the sole BRJ participant among the 310 finishers, Neil completed the distance in 22nd position in 1:10:55 that represented a new Club 10M PB (#2 of 2024) by a 3 Min 1 Sec margin based on his result at September’s Sawtry 10M.<\/p>\n

Norwich 1\/2 Marathon<\/strong>
\nBy way of celebrating her **th birthday, Sue Yendley was joined by 3 other BRJ’ers at the Norwich Showground. Like the remainder of the country, the rain & strong winds made the hilly course even more challenging for the 3,107 finishers. It appears that another major challenge was exiting the Car Park post race. Their results were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Zig Zag Trail Runs (Huntingdon)<\/strong><\/div>\n
At Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Storm Bert delivered the participants a wet, muddy course along with strong winds. BRJ’ers were in action in 2 of the events:<\/div>\n
10K – Mica Covell secured Runners-Up position from the 47 finishers in a time of 00:52:04.<\/div>\n
1\/2 Marathon – In his 3rd 1\/2 Marathon of 2024, Darren Butler finished in position 34 out of 49 in a time of 2:40:44.<\/div>\n

Junior Sportshall Athletics Competition (Peterborough)<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
BRJ Juniors made a Club Debut appearance in a Sportshall Athletics competition. These competitions are organised by Cambs AA for the benefit of Running Club & School members in the 9-15 year age groups.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The 2024 programme includes 2 events, with event #1 being based at Bushfield in Peterborough. Competition # 2 takes place on the 7th December at Cambridge University.<\/div>\n

As each team of 6 cannot be mixed gender & as the BRJ squad only consisted of 6 members in total (3 Boys & 3 Girls), individuals from other teams were co-opted to form “scratch” teams for some of the relays. The results for the teams included BRJ Juniors are:<\/div>\n
U11 Boys (Alexander Eason, Thomas Hunt & Adam Sparteley) – 3rd from 7 teams<\/div>\n
U11 Girls (Florence Stevenson & Genevieve Webster) – 3rd from 8 teams<\/div>\n
U13 Girls (Jocelyn Webster)\u00a0 – 7th from 8 teams<\/div>\n

Our 6 Juniors, among the 93 others, did really well in their first experience of this competition. It is hoped these members will return for the next competition at\u00a0 Cambridge & that more qualifying BRJ Juniors will sign-up so that the Club can enter teams of 6 in our own right. If so, please let a member of our Junior Coaching team aware ASAP.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hereward 39 Mile Relay<\/strong><\/div>\n
Because of the anticipated force of Storm Bert, the relay race was cancelled the previous day. This cancellation will be of great disappointment to the 3 BRJ teams. A revised date will be announced shortly.<\/div>\n

Senior Road Running Championships 2025<\/strong> – Programme of Events<\/strong><\/h4>\n

With the year 2025 fast approaching it is time to announce the “Nominated: events that form the 2025 competition.\u00a0\u00a0As ever, the competition aims are to provide a mix of mostly local events & distances, to cater for those members that prefer to run shorter distances up to 10K & from 2025 to tie-in with some races in the Cambs AA Road League competition. These are the races taking place in January, March, May, June & September.<\/p>\n

The full set of competition rules can be found within the Club Records tab of the BRJ website, but in summary, to secure a finish position in the 2025 competition members must complete 4 of the 12 “Nominated” events. In addition, 1 Full Marathon will count towards the 4 events required. In terms of scoring, the lowest scoring race of an individuals “best 4” is discounted. The “Nominated” events are:<\/p>\n
