RUNNING<\/h3>\n

Parkrun Junior 2K<\/strong>
\nOur Juniors were in action at Clevedon Seafront & more locally at Jubilee Park.<\/p>\n

At Jubilee Park, Keira & Rhys Coverdale both missed new Club 2K PB’s by a 9 Sec margin whilst at Clevedon, Alexander Eason made a BRJ Venue Debut & achieving a new Club 2K PB (#1 of 2024) by a 16 Sec margin compared to his run at Jubilee Park #240 back in July 2023.<\/p>\n

Parkrun 5K<\/strong>
\nBRJ’ers returned to Bug Hunter Waters, Holkham (3rd place for Will Dales), March, Market Harborough, Milton Keynes (Course Best for David Spurle & Parkrun #350 for Alice Edwards), Pocket, Priebnitzgrund (Germany), Rothay Park & Storeys Field. At Wimpole, Junior Jack Reeve secured a new Club 5K PB (#1 of 2024) by a 3 Min 13 Sec margin compared to his run at Montrose Parkrun in August 2023.<\/p>\n

Kerry Surkitt, Kathy Unwin & Lee Watkins made a BRJ Venue Debut at The Plens, Northampton.<\/p>\n

At Huntingdon, Alex & Paul Mitton secured top 10 finishers in 8th & 10th positions respectively. Douglas Rowan secured a 37 Sec Club PB (#5 of 2024) compared to his result at the Hastings Parkrun in May 2024.<\/p>\n

Peterborough Grand Prix Series 3K & 5K<\/strong>
\nRace 4 of the 5 race 2024 Grand Prix (GP) Series hosted by Stamford Striders, took place from the local Rugby Club. Historically, there has been low attendance by BRJ’ers at Stamford because of the travel distance involved, but 2024 saw a fantastic turnout by 4 Juniors & 20 Seniors. Both the Junior & Senior courses included a damp start \/ finish area & some tight turns.<\/p>\n

For your diaries, the final races in the 2024 GP Series hosted by PANVAC, takes place on Wednesday 7th August at Ferry Meadows, Peterborough. The Race HQ for Race 5 is the Watersports Centre. For our Seniors, the 5K race is the “Nominated” event for August in the 2024 Running Championships.<\/p>\n

3K – 4 BRJ’ers were among the 45 finishers. Iris Purser was 1st Girl home & again led home the BRJ squad, earning a Gold Medal in her Age Category & ahead of our lead boy, Isaac Friswell. The full suite of Club 3K results were:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

5K – William Dales led home the BRJ squad in 8th place from the 361 finishers achieving another sub-17 Min time & just 20 Sec short of his existing Club 5K PB. Will was followed home by Cameron Taylor-Hall in a sub-20 time that shortens the gap to the 5K PB of 00:19:23 he set as a Junior back in 2018.<\/p>\n

Felicity Baillie led home our Women ahead of an improving Harriet Dolby who secured a new Club PB in the process. We had 3 Club PB’ers, which were:-<\/p>\n

i). Andrew Stevenson – By 11 Secs since 2024’s GP Race #3 at Werrington (Club PB #3 of 2024).
\nii). Junior Henry Reeve – By 23 Secs since GP Race #3 at Werrington (Club PB #4 of 2024). In the 2024 Series, Henry has now PB’d at Races 2,3 & 4.
\niii). Harriet Dolby – By 47 Secs since GP Race #3 at Werrington (Club PB #4 of 2024).<\/p>\n

MULTI-SPORTS<\/h3>\n

Lancashire Kids Duathlon<\/strong>
\nJack Reeve participated in this Kids Duathlon in the Tristar 2 category although it did not all go quite to plan with a hip injury being sustained as well as an emergency tyre change required during the bike phase. Despite these challenges, Jack completed the race in 34th position in a total time of 00:31:13. His stats were:-<\/p>\n

Belvoir Castle Middle Distance Duathlon.<\/strong>
\nOn a very hot day, the Standard Distance Duathlon was among a varied number of Running, Mulit-Sports & Swim races on offer. Stuart Hathaway was among the 17 finishers achieving 3rd place overall & 1st in his Age Category in a total time of 4:52:49. His individual stats were:-<\/p>\n

Swim Grafham<\/strong>
\n6 BRJ’ers took to the cooling conditions at Grafham Water in 3 of the 4 distance events available with great individual achievements:-<\/p>\n

2K – Paul Treadwell finished in 33rd position from 41 in a time of 00:58:40, Paul was 3rd in his Age Category.<\/p>\n

3K- 3 members were among the 46 finishers. Roger Blackmore led home our squad in 10th position in 00:57:17 followed, 1 place behind, by Valerie Cummings in 00:57:34 (3rd in Age Category). John Batchelor finished in 18th in 1:03:36.<\/p>\n

5K – Willian Davies was the overall winner of the 59 finishers in a time of 1:11:01. Sophie Etheridge in 1:49:16 was in 35th position & like William was top in her Age Category.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
