23rd May:
Dorney Lake 5k
Keelan was the sole BRJ entrant in this 1 lap around the lake race. Although the conditions for running were much better than in recent days there were still numerous windy gusts across the lake that would have affected the finish times. Despite this, Keelan finished in a superb 7th place overall (6th Man) of the 99 finishers. The Wednesday training at the track is clearly benefiting Keelan as his finish time of 00:17:33 secured himself an 8 second club PB when compared the time he set as a Junior member at Bedford in October 2019. Keelan’s new 5k time places him as 10th fastest BRJ Senior Man over the 5k distance.
Dorney Lake 10k
The 10k race was run over 2 laps of the lake. Hanna Brickell finished in a time of 00:43:54 in position 49 of the 179 finishers. Hanna recorded a club PB by 27 secs sine the 2019 Peterborough New Years Eve 10k event. Hanna is now the 8th fastest BRJ Senior Woman over 10k.
Peterborough Marathon
Much to the liking of the 560 finishers & spectators, the recent wind & rain held off to present the runners with reasonably good conditions, although none of the 3 BRJ finishers achieved PB’s on the day. At the sharp end, former BRJ member, David Hudson, took the overall win (2:27:50), also outside of his Marathon PB. Stuart Hathaway led home the BRJ squad, with Amanda Roland-Convey, just missing out on a sub-4 hour time, finishing ahead of Yvonne Homewood.
Despite a well planned training campaign, a recent Hamstring injury prevented Paul Mitton from taking park. Hon-Wai Pang & John Parker were also club non-starters.
The club finish times were:-
174   Stuart Hathaway                 3:33:28
301   Amanda Roland-Convey    4:00:27
