May Bank holiday sunshine brought runners of all ages to Jubilee park in Huntingdon for the BRJ Mayor of Huntingdon Charity Race. Now in its third year this event has raised thousands of pounds which support local charities. Families and friends ran together in the Fun Run , a mile and a half course round the Jubilee park fields. Bill Hensley Mayor of Huntingdon Town Council thanked everyone for coming along to support the races and the charities they support. Toddlers running with mum and Dad brought loud cheers and applause as they ran, walked, skipped and bounced along. Every one deserved their medal for completing the course.
The five mile race was more competitive with 167 runners competing either to win or to cover the distance in a good time or for the first time.
Alex Metcalfe was the winner over 5 miles, finishing the race in an impressive 31.26 minutes, closely followed by Team Bex's Mark Barry. Tyrone Farrer was the first V40 finisher, and BRJ runner Gilles Corby took the prestigious V50 prize. Ahead of the pack of ladies was March AC's Geraldine Larham to take first female, and local BRJers Jackie Wren and Shelley Duffy took second and third.
Prises we awarded by Deputy Mayor Doug Mcilwain who thanked BRJ Run and Tri Club for organising another very successful and popular race.
