Over the last twelve months club members have been busy with their sports and social activities in support of Papyrus a charity dedicated to suicide prevention and the support of those impacted by the death of a loved one through suicide. They took to heart the important issue Papyrus raises. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people - male and female-aged under 35 in the UK. Young suicide is everyone's business and Papyrus believe we all have a role to play in preventing it. Through their "Hopeline" and in their work in overcoming the stigma and silence associated with suicide and mental health Papyrus assists everyone to have a role in reaching out to those who feel defeated by life.
David Newton , Chairman of BRJ Run and Tri was pleased to present a cheque for £3708.60 to Kathryn Minar , who thanked the club on behalf of Papyrus. Kathryn spoke movingly of her family's experience of death through suicide and of the importance of raising awareness of the need for more awareness and support services.
