The miserable weather on Sunday did not stop a big BRJ turnout at the St Neots half over the weekend. Despite the awful running conditions 56 of us ran the course, and there were some amazing results! David Hudson won the race in an amazing time of 1.13.39, congratualtions! The wind could not stop 8 BRJers getting new PBs; Ed Crothall, David Ward, Ian Shipley, David Barrett-Hague, Claire Ashton, David Lawrence, Claire Few and David Senior all clocking in with a new personal best time. A big congratulations to them all.
The brilliant Ellie Loosely was first female finisher in the 3km fun run with a time of 12.43, and Daniel Mitton secured second male finisher with a time of 11.02. James Orrell clocked a new 3km PB with a time of 11.13. A massive well done to our brilliant juniors!
Personal Bests Galore a St Neots Half Marathon and Junior 3k

BRJ had a fantastic turn out at the local St Neots Half Marathon and St Neots 3k this week with 57 club members running in the 13 and a bit mile event and 18 juniors in the 3k event.
Cy Gearing was the first BRJ’er home in the Half Marathon in 38th place in a personal best time of 1:23:36. 17 other BRJ runners also achieved Half Marathon personal bests and 5 were running in their first club Half Marathon.
But is doesn’t stop there. In a remarkable weekend of personal bests 15 out of 18 juniors’ recorded personal bests for the 3k distance. That’s an amazing total of 32 athletes achieving PB’s in just one weekend.
Those training sessions are starting pay off everyone.
St Neots Half Marathon This was the last Club Champs nominated event for this year and with ideal weather for endurance running, of the 46 BRJ finishers, 17 acheived PB's and there were 7 Club Half Marathon debutants, which included our top placed runner, Tim O'Connor. Tim's run makes him the 3rd fastest BRJ runner over the half marathon distance, edging out Darren Preston by just 18 seconds. This time also beats Tim's non-BRJ half marathon PB by about 3 minutes. Tim was well supported by our other "elite" men with 6 BRJ men in the top 100 finishers.
Gillian Peck achieved her 6th PB of 2011 to lead home the ladies squad, with Rachel Real just beating Paula Elliott, who scored her first 70%+ age graded score, to the runner-up spot. Anita Girvan, who was personally paced by Alan Hannibal, dipped below 1:45 for the first time. The first 5 ladies home all acheived PB's today. Iain Drylie scored his 2nd half marathon PB of 2011 and I noted that even with the very thick fog, his Union Jack Shorts were visible for miles!
