Over 650 runners took part in these popular races organised by St Edmund Pacers. They faced chilly conditions but with a slight breeze and clear blue skies this was a perfect day for running.
Dave Hudson stormed round the 20 miles in 1 hour 49 minutes 22 seconds breaking the course record he set last year by over two minutes, over 10 minutes ahead of the second placed runner. His performance was matched by winners in three age categories Alice Synge (FV 35) 2.40.24 Annette Newton (FV65) 2.57.02 and David Newton (MV 65) 2.41.25. Neil Jarvis, who had competed in the National Cross-Country Championships the day before completed the 20 miles in 2.29.24 improving his time over the distance by over 14 minutes.
Jane Roberts time was 2.57.02: Jo Muff 3.19.32 and Kate Ruddock 3.27.59 and continued the club’s winning ways by being awarded a spot prize.
In the 10-mile race Tracey Bousfield completed the course in 1hour 47 minutes. This good performance puts Dave Hudson time in context as he was only a couple of minutes slower than Tracey over twice the distance.
