We are now two races into the frostbite season with the next race at Hinchingbrooke Park and staged by the Hunts AC club on the 14th December.
Last year BRJ Seniors finished in 12th place overall and the juniors in their first year as a formalised club saw them achieve a fantastic 4th place just missing out on the podium finish. So far this year the juniors are in 5th overall (a better start that this point last year) and the seniors are up in 8th place after the first two races which is a fantastic improvement.
Our own Cy Gearing won the Richmond Park 10k at the weekend beating 202 other runners in the proccess. Held in one of London's most beautiful country deer parks Cy raced round the distance in 38:40.
Mel (pictured with Cy) also run the 10k and finished 131 place, 49th woman home.Read more
Sunday saw the BRJ Run and Tri Club hold it’s now regular Duathlon over at Abbotts Ripton and anyone who drove around the Abbots Ripton area on Sunday morning would surely not have failed to notice either the triathletes or the marshal at the event. As seems to be the norm for this regular event the weather was good for the athletes and a record 141 entrants made it the best attended BRJ Duathlon yet.
As well as those few athletes that came to win, most of the entrants came to compete against their personal best time, or to test themselves against the distance and disciplines of...Read more
Calling for a Great BRJ Bake off to support this weekend’s Duathlon. As I am sure we all know this Sunday are holding the BRJ Duathlon and I know lots of BRJ members are running and cycling in the event. Many too are marshals for the event, but we also need you support even if you aren’t taking part or helping. Frankie who is the Fundraising Officer for the club has asked all you brilliant bakers out there to get baking and bring along cakes that we can sell to raise money for our BRJ charity Marie Curie Cancer Care. The money we raise will help fund a Marie Curie nurse for local people...Read more
Last Sunday (21st Sept) saw Emily Wake-Primett from our club win the Cambridge Junior Parkrun held at Milton Country Park. The BRJ Junior won the race in a new personal best time of 7 minutes 49 seconds which is just 13 second outside the course best time for this event. As Emily has been making rapid progress in reducing her personal best times it might only be a short time before Emily takes the course record for the Cambridge junior Parkrun.
The Junior Parkrun is quite a new thing Sundays race being only the 10th that has been held. It is proving a popular...Read more
BRJ Run and Tri Juniors are the Hunts Post Sports Award Junior Team of the Year.
It has been a fantastic first year for the BRJ juniors. We have seen the section grow from the initial 8 week taster sessions last summer set up by coach Andy Matson (who was also a finalist for coach of the year) to regularly having 30 t0 40 children at the weekly Wednesday evening training sessions. On pure results basis, as well as now being the Junior team of the year, week in week out we have age group winners in various runs and triathlons. We have seen them all improve their best times and grow...Read more
